Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Winners Awarded. The Martha McCraw Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution announced the winners of the Jefferson Junior High Essay Contest. This year’s essay topic was about the “Stamp Act of 1765” and how it affected families of that time period.
The 5th grade APT class participated in the Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest. This year, the topic was about our national parks. Students wrote a 300-600 word essay on a national park of their choosing. All students who participated received a certificate for their hard work.
A very well-deserved congratulation goes out to the 5th-grade students in Mrs. Henderson's APT class who received certificates for their historical fiction essay for the Daughters of the American Revolution contest. Winners were presented on December 13, 2017 and were surprised by a visit from their families. 1st Place: Lucia King.
Out of 46 entries, these 10 students were chosen for their excellence in writing in the recent Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest. 1st place winners will be entered in the state competition.
Heineman Middle School student Jackie Fiandaca won both the Fox River Chapter and the Illinois District II levels of a recent Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest for her writing, which focused on the historical impact of the Stamp Act. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women’s service organization comprising 3,000 chapters and over 185,000 members. We are quite proud of our chapter as well as our name.

The Thomasville Chapter NSDAR celebrated its 107th birthday on July 19. The Thomasville Chapter NSDAR was organized on July 19, 1912. At the celebration, DAR members and prospective members enjoyed dinner, birthday cake and pinned their patriot on the map of colonial America to show the area where their patriot lived or served during the Revolutionary War.
Congratulations to Sorenna Jean, who was selected as the 2019-20 Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen for Jamestown High School. Her essay and application won first place for the Williamsburg DAR Chapter and have been submitted for judging at the district level.
